But what do all these numbers associated with C-arm table moves mean? We'll break down the basics of each number so that you can feel confident choosing the right C-arm for your facility.

What Does Each C-Arm Table Movement Number Mean?
Each number represents how many unique movements the table can perform (In a way, each number also represents the price bracket each table lives in). Most fluoroscopy table manufacturers follow this same code when identifying their tables. Each number upward has all the same movements as the previous number, plus one additional movement. For example, a 4-move table can do everything a 3-move table can AND one more unique movement.
When looking for C-arm systems, it’s a good idea to pay attention to the specific names. For example, this Image Diagnostics Aspect 100-4T C-Arm Table has 4-way movement, which you probably could have guessed based on there being a “4” in the name.
What Does Each C-Arm Table Movement Do?
The Movements
1-Move: Height Adjustment: This moves the table straight up and down. Height range varies between manufacturers and models.
2-Move: Lateral Tilt: This allows the table to tilt from side to side. The degree of tilt also varies by manufacturer and model.
3-Move: Trendelenburg Tilt: This tilts the table from head to foot. The degree of tilt also varies by manufacturer and model.
4-Move: Longitudinal Travel: Longitudinal Travel (or head to foot travel) moves the C-arm tabletop head to foot over the central column. The range of movement represented in inches varies between manufacturers and models.
Beyond movements 1-4, are 5-move and float-top tables.

5-Move: Lateral Travel
Lateral Travel (or side to side travel) moves the c-arm table top side to side over the central column. The range of movement represented in inches varies between manufacture and models
Float-Top
A float-top table adds diagonal movements to the 5-move configuration. These tops unlock, glide in all directions for maximum flexibility, and then lock back into place.
