Hello, and welcome to my page. I’m Gary Strpko, with Block Imaging’s C-arm Engineering Team. My goal is to ensure that every C-arm that passes through Block’s refurbishment program is functional to its original manufacturer’s performance standards and ready to serve patients from the day it arrives at its new home.I like the fact that I can use both my mind and my hands in my work, and it’s very rewarding to know that when I fix up a system it will be put to good use. The fact that C-arms have both mechanical and electrical systems to work on is the best of both worlds! The more challenging the system is to fix, the better I like it.
I’ve always loved fixing things. When I was 14, I began restoring and building hot rods, something I still do today. Since then, my career has taken some interesting twists and turns. I worked for 17 years with Nissan as an autotech (mechanic.) Next I spent 20 years with the Michigan Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer. When I retired from MDC, I joined Block in June 2014 so that I could return to my roots and start fixing things again.
I’ve been married to my lovely wife, Libby, for over 20 years. She is a hair stylist and creative genius, and she keeps me on my toes. We have 2 sons, Garrett and Wyatt, who have become more and more fun to spend time with, the older they get. While my family plans may not sound that exciting to outsiders, I enjoy the little, everyday times we have together so much that I’ve been known to blow off poker night with the guys just so I can have more time with my family. While I'm talking about things I love, I have to mention how proud I am to be an American. I am so thankful to be a citizen of this great country. The only thing that trumps my commitment to my family and my country is my commitment to Jesus Christ, my Savior. I am so thankful to experience the grace and redemption he has freely offered me, and I seek to live in a way that will please him.
